Grass-Fed  Beef

The newest old-fashioned way to stay healthy

Beef raised without any chemicals or additives.

No growth hormones.  No chemicals.  No antibiotics.  Just grass, the way nature intended!

No fattening-up with grain that destroys the vital Omega 3 fatty acids in the meat.  No chance of mad cow disease because you are NOT grinding up a cow to feed a cow.

As documented in Mother Earth News1, the best place to start in describing the health benefits of grass-fed beef is with the meat’s leanness.

Grass-fed beef:

*   is one-third to three times leaner than grain-fed beef, so it has fewer calories -- a 6-ounce beef loin from a grass-fed cow can have 92 fewer calories than a 6-ounce loin from a grain-fed cow.

*   provides two to four times more essential omega-3 fatty acids 2 than feedlot beef.  Studies on omega-3 acids show: 3

  • a HUGE correlation between Omega3 fatty acid deficiency and children who are significantly more likely to experience learning disorders, hyperactivity, and behavioral difficulties, according to the Purdue medical research dept.

  • deficiencies are also strongly tied to conditions such as diabetes, cancer, eczema, weight gain, heart disease, allergies, arthritis, depression, and memory problems.

*   contains two newly discovered “good” fats: conjugated linoleic acid 4 (CLA) and trans-vaccenic acid (TVA). (Our bodies turn TVA into CLA.)

*   provides more beta carotene, vitamin E and folic acid, important antioxidants that protect us from free radicals, boost our immunity and may lower our risk of heart disease.

*   is even healthier for you than a chicken breast — the white meat that health authorities are so quick to recommend, according to Jo Robinson, grass-fed expert and author of the book "Pasture Perfect."

Grain-fed beef:

*   does not supply a proper ration of good fatty acids, but actually supplies an abundance of "bad fats." 3

In contrast to our grass-fed cattle, grain-fed feed-lot cattle:

*    may be fed all kinds of products in addition to grain, including chicken manure, chicken feathers, newsprint, cardboard, and municipal garbage waste.  Cattle are even fed stale pizza crust, chewing gum, and candy1.

We raise our own grass-fed beef, using a cross of Watusi cattle.  We sell grass-fed beef as it is available.  Please e-mail for more information.  We proudly recommend Huse Country Meats (254-533-2205) in Malone, Texas for processing.

Want less than a whole cow?  Go in with a friend and split one!

Don't have "cow transportation?"  Transportation of the cow to the processing plant is available for an extra fee, depending upon distance.

Omega-3s help protect humans from cancer, depression, obesity, diabetes, arthritis, allergies, dementia, high-blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, heart attack and stroke. Also, in grass-fed products, omega-3s and omega-6 fatty acids are in balance, which provides critical protection from heart attacks and strokes.  (As reported in  www.motherearthnews.com)

4  CLA shows great promise in lab animal studies of helping fight cancers and cardiovascular disease. When cattle are raised exclusively on grass, their meat and dairy products offer two to five times more CLA than cattle raised on large amounts of grain.  (As reported in  www.motherearthnews.com)
